How to use categories in GroupCamp
GroupCamp allows you to use various types of categories. Time categories can be used to record time either in a project or in the cross-project Timesheet application.
Time categories can represent the various categories or skills within the company so that time reports may provide you with breakdown information across those categories in your various projects.
To use a time category in a project, the category needs to be enabled first. Once it is enabled project members can use it for time recording. A time category can be enabled only for projects or only for recording in the Timesheet application or both. You can use Time categories in the Timesheet application for time recording on activities which are independent from any project. Time categories can also be used to define budget lines. By associating a budget with a time category you can have project members record time on those budget lines and therefore monitor whether your project is on-budget or not.
If you are handling a large number of projects, you can use group categories to categorize your projects. This makes selection of projects for example in Timesheet reports much easier.
